Photo from the latest Outdoor Leader Skills Training Course held at Camp Rokilio on April 30-May 1. Six patrols of scoutmasters and assistant scoutmasters from Lakeshore and Kettle Country Districts finished their last training course and earned their "TRAINED" patches. They also earned tot'n chips, fire'm chits and did a lot of dutch oven cooking.

The book for the newest merit Badge, Inventing, is being sent to the presses as we speak. It was developed by a group from MIT in Boston with the help of a local Eagle Scout. Sam Wallander, Eagle Scout from troop 004 in Brillion was contacted by MIT for his help after he participated in an inventing competition held in Boston. Sam was asked to help develop the Inventing merit badge. As part of his contribution, he worked with members of his troop at the Ariens technology center inside Brillion High School. As a result of his help, the merit badge books feature many pictures of members of Troop 004 working on items for the merit badge. They are wearing their class B shirts and troop number and city are easily identified in the book. The Ariens technology center is pictured along with multiple references to Troop 004 in the text. This is a unique experience for the boys. These merit badge books are usually in print for years and may not be changed for decades. I’m glad that our troop had an opportunity to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you to Sam for thinking of his troop during this unique experience. Sam is currently attending UW Platteville pursuing a degree in Industrial Technologies with Emphasis in Manufacturing Technology.
